BRAIDS
BRAIDS is the saga of three families whose lives are woven together by tragedy. The braids of relationships that are formed endure the tests of time and are extended for generations. The saga begins in 1937 on the old plantation of Quinnton Meadows.
According to the servants who worked there, Quinnton Meadows was the Garden of Eden. They were the highest paid servants in the state of North Carolina. The Quinntons did not discriminate by the color of a servant’s skin. White and Negro servants worked side by side in an atmosphere of peace and harmony. Every servant received equal respect as well as equal pay. Elizabeth Quinnton was reared by Momma Ann Goodman, the head cook at Quinnton Meadows.
"Guard yo' thoughts like you would yo' body 'cause to yo' spirit, thoughts is like flesh," Momma Ann taught those around her.
